To expand your life you have to apply your full attention to the current moment. Today is about the renewal of the present through open awareness of the past. For renewal we only need to be present in the moment and letting go of the past. Being in the now is not about the past nor is it about promising to do better in the future. Rather, awareness in the now and complete focus on doing your best in the current moment is a move towards renewal.
“Hope is a state of mind, not of the world. Hope in this deep and powerful sense, is… an ability to work for something because it is good.” – Vaclav Havel
Message of the Day
The message of hope is that renewal is always possible because life itself is always driven and supported by the forces of renewal. We don’t have to figure out how to transform and renew our life – that knowledge and power is already there in Nature. We see this when our cut finger heals, or the tulips pop up in the spring. In today’s meditation, we learn that the key to transformation is contacting the source of renewal deep within our being and aligning our awareness to that creative energy of life.

Journal Reflection Questions
- Write down a single habit, belief, or behavior you will let go of today, such as the habit of being late, the belief that something bad is always around the corner, the perception that you are tied to another person no matter what, etc. Sit for a moment, eyes closed, and send it away. Feel what it’s like to be free of this old, stuck piece of the past. Now journal about any changes you experience in your body or emotional state after completing this exercise.
- Bring to mind a positive experience of when something new came your way, and write down memories of how this made you feel, i.e. happy, light-hearted, surprised, amused, entertained, curious, appreciative, etc. Let these responses sink in to become part of you right now.
- Write down one new thing you’d like to learn or experience. What can you do today to bring this new thing into your life?
- Reflect further on your experience today.
