“With faith you let go. You trust. Whereas with belief you cling.”
— Yann Martel
We are half way through the 21 Day Meditation Experience and our Meditate to Thanksgiving Challenge. The atmosphere is changing more towards the holiday season and some of us may be feeling the pressure. Today’s message and meditation is perfect for reminding us to stop and find calm when we start to feel anxious in such situations. In the midst of those tall trees and falling brown leaves, lies the open blue sky for you.
Today we are learning how to remove the obstacles that prevent us from truly reaching the belief of feeling safe and trusting. These obstacles keep us from being in a calm place and living in peace, and instead allow us to continue to be anxious or fearful. Realistically, everyone’s life contains less than fulfilling aspects and we need to explore what kind of behavior will change this. When you feel safe and open from anxiety on the inside the outer experience changes automatically. From our meditation practice we understand what our inner quiet and calm feels like. This is a basic example of the feeling of safety. Our beliefs can limit us or expand us. We have the power source within to be eternally at peace and our belief is the seed of peace. Today we are exploring how our core beliefs flow from a place within that is open, allowing and trusting.
Today’s Message of the Day:
“Fulfillment is the only response from our environment that shows us we are living from our core beliefs. If we feel anxious, insecure, and fearful, that means there are still obstacles and limitations in our beliefs. In today’s meditation, we look at the core belief “I am safe and trusting,” and see how we can remove the obstacles and limitations around this belief without strain or effort.
When we meditate, we contact the quiet, secure, and peaceful nature of our self. This conscious contact exposes the false sense of separation that compromises our beliefs. This exposure automatically dissolves the obstacles and boundaries around the belief.”
The CENTERING THOUGHT for today’s meditation experience was:
“I release myself from obstacles and boundaries.”
The SANSKRIT MANTRA used in the meditation:
Om Gum Namah
(Expansive consciousness dissolves obstacles.)
This mantra allies our consciousness with the consciousness that overcomes all obstacles. When you expand awareness to a universal level, obstacles become minute.
Today’s four journal prompts were:
- Reflecting on the core belief “I am safe and trusting,” write down the feelings that keep you from fully adopting it. For example, these could be feelings of anxiety, self-doubt, uncertainty in relationships, seeing the world as a dangerous place, or fear about money.
- Reflect on how little these insecure feelings matter or even exist in your meditation, where you have found a place of peace, quiet, and security.
- Write down specific ways to get closer to the true self’s feeling of security and trust. For example, by centering yourself, decreasing the stress around you, not joining in anxious or stressful encounters, walking away from situations where you feel insecure, or finding a confidante who is a model of security and trust.
- Use this space to reflect further on your experience today.
Today’s journal prompts focus on the core belief of feeling safe and trusting. Exploring these journal exercises help us recognize the debilitating factors in our lives that keep us from truly reaching the core belief of feeling safe and trusting. It may be difficult to face and let go of certain things that are hindering our reach, such as a relationship. It may take time and more reflection before we get to this point.
May your evenings be peaceful and your days energetic!
