If you are having a BBQ party, the easiest thing to do is throw watermelon on the grill to add some exotic flavor to your menu or if you want to come up with an easy dessert idea. You can even add grilled watermelon to a salad for a summer main meal.
Traditionally the grilled watermelon is served with feta in Greece. We take this idea and turn the basic watermelon into something new and delicious that is definitely a conversation piece at the dinner table. In my opinion, the grilled watermelon is definitely out of the ordinary when it comes to serving watermelon and it look fabulously impressive with very little effort. If you choose not to pull out the grill, you can also do this on a grill pan.
Ingredients
8 slices seedless watermelon
2 tbsp honey
sea salt, to taste
1 lime, juiced
Method
- Heat the grill to high (350 degrees)
- Brush the watermelon lightly on both sides with the honey.
- Place the watermelon slices on the grill grate. Allow the watermelon to grill for 1 ½ to 2 minutes to form grill marks, then turn and allow to grill 1 ½ to 2 minutes on the opposite site until grill marks have formed and the melon is slightly softened.
- Remove from grill and sprinkle with sea salt and squeeze lime juice over the top. Enjoy!
