The Sexy Eats Experiment is an idea I conjured up in my head to spark things up at home over a month. I think you have to give any form of change some time. There is an introductory period, an adjustment stage, and the moment of embrace. So, for any catalyst to really take effect, give it some time. That’s why I have chosen a 30 day period of repeated dosages of Aphrodisiacs to test whether it can actually stimulate a relationship and romance.
The Hypothesis: Aphrodisiac foods served every night for 30 days will ignite romance and warmer relationships between my husband and me.
Materials:
The New InterCourses: An Aphrodisiac Cookbook by Martha Hopkins
I chose this book for my nightly recipes because I think it is a good source for easy and quick recipes with ingredients that more readily available. It’s also a bestseller and I admire Martha Hopkins, who initially published this book with very little funding in her pocket.
Romancing The Stove: The Unabridged Guide to Aphrodisiac Foods by Amy Reiley
Amy Rieley is known as the queen of aphrodisiacs and has published renowned cook books on the subject. So, I thought trying a few of her recipes in this experiment was a must. I thought I would cook her recipes on days that I have some extra time. We have a toddler, so these recipes will be saved for those evenings when he goes to bed early.
Methods: Cook for my man every night. After all, they say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.
My goal is to serve a sensual dish with aphrodisiac properties every night and report back on it here every day. I mentioned that I have a toddler, so how can I pull this off? Well, I’m hoping for a few evenings of early bedtimes. On other nights it may be scintillating libations and tasty sweets after dinner. On the weekends it may be a brunch or a day time meal. I’m not looking for just more in the bedroom, but an amorous relationship and that can be fed in the day time as well. I know you may be thinking what the big deal is, most people prepare dinner every night? It is a big deal for me because I’m not really in the habit of cooking and I definitely don’t cook every night. We generally eat out 90% of the time. So, for one, I’m putting in the effort to be a more typical homemaker, who cooks at home. I think this alone may make my husband happy. Secondly, I want to supercharge the effort by making the type of food I prepare consist of aphrodisiacs. For someone, like me, there may be some busy days, and I may not prepare an entire meal on such days. So, don’t be surprised by many evenings of appetizers, cocktails or deserts.
Now, you may be thinking why I would attempt to start the repair of my marriage through food and in the hopes of a pseudoscience being proven successful. After all, I’m an educated woman who specializes in this arena in her profession and I must know where the attention really needs to be placed. It’s because we are beyond applying the traditional methods to this relationship. We are in a way working backwards, hoping that we will each reach the desire to put in the effort towards the traditional methods and practical measures to a successful marriage with some uncanny enlightenment effect. It’s time to spice things up and create a big bang. This should be fun, as I’m looking forward to the results of the recipes on my evenings for the next month. It will also give me a starting point to focus on my marriage and a display of completion of my efforts. Join me starting tomorrow, October 1st, I will be cooking sensual cuisine every night and report on its results.
Definitely true that the way to a mans heart is through his tummy. I am going to try more of this at home over the holidays for sure but keep in mind a romantic twist for him.
I wonder why I never came across your food blog before. The Sexy Eats experiment is a very witty idea.
Great idea for blogging on not just food. It’s a fun read.
