Somisomi is a soft-serve dessert shop based on the lighter flavors of Korean desserts. They serve specially crafted Taiyaki soft serve, which is also called “Ah-Boong(아붕)” In Korea. A Taiyaki is a fish-shaped waffle cone that is filled with your choice of filling and then topped with soft serve ice cream. However, this isn’t your usual soft serve. The ice cream is lactose-free, except for certain flavors. You will also find unique flavors of ice cream, like matcha, black sesame, or ube. The Taiyaki cone is light, it’s soft like a cake because the Taiyaki is a Japanese fish-shaped cake. The original Taiyaki, which is street food, may be filled with red bean paste. At Somisomi, you may get custard or chocolate filling.
